Dieterich Drops Loss To Patoka In Nokomis Sectional

NOKOMIS -- A hopes of a sectional championship went by the wayside for Dieterich as the Movin' Maroons fell to top-seeded Patoka 52-43 at the Class 1A Nokomis Sectional Wednesday evening.

Patoka edged out to an 11-8 first quarter lead on the strength of two baskets by Bailey O'Brien and Jared Cain and a three-pointer by Garrett Belcher.

But the Maroons clawed back into contention with a 15-8 second period to lead 23-19 at halftime. Ryan Radloff nailed six points including a regular three-pointer and an old-fashioned three-point play. Callaway Campton scored two baskets.

The Maroons were outscored in the third quarter 19-16 but held a 39-38 lead going into the final period. Radloff nailed a three-pointer and another basket while Tyler Higgs had two baskets and a free throw.

But the bottom dropped out for the Maroons in the final quarter as Patoka came back with a 19-4 surge. It was a concerted team effort as Skyler Webb nailed a three-pointer, Belcher had three points, O'Brien four and Cain four.

The lone basket for the Maroons came on a three-pointer by Radloff. Higgs chipped in with a free throw.

Radloff finished with 14 points while Higgs tallied 11. Devin Flach was on the verge of a double figure performance with nine points. Dieterich ends the season with a 16-15 record.
