Bulldogs Knock Off Odin at North Clay Regional; Grayville Beats Neoga

The St. Anthony Bulldogs began their post-season campaign in style, downing the Odin Eagles Wednesday night 64-24 at the North Clay Class 1A Regional. The game was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com

St. Anthony scored the first 13 points of the game and continued to pull away the remainder of the game. The Bulldogs led 15-4 after one quarter, 28-7 at halftime, and 48-16 after three quarters before outscoring the Eagles 16-8 in the final period to win by 40.

St. Anthony shot 54% from the field, 26 of 48, including 3 of 16 threes. The Bulldogs made just half their foul shots, 8 of 16, but turned the ball over just seven times and pulled down 30 rebounds.

Odin shot 27% from the field, 8 of 30, including 4 of 15 threes. The Eagles made 4 of 7 foul shots, turned the ball over 17 times, and grabbed just 13 rebounds.

St. Anthony's Drew Gibson led all scorers with 26 points. Cade Walsh added 12 points. Also for the Bulldogs: Alex Deters 8, Alex Beesley 6, Adam Levitt and Jack Nuxoll 4 each, and Wyatt Lawrence and Luke Ludwig 2 each.

Seth Nix led Odin with 11 points. Also for the Eagles: Lucas Shaffer 7, Gage Roberts 4, and Dominic Beyers 2.

The Bulldogs improved to 24-5 and will play for the regional championship Friday at 7pm, a game we'll have on 979XFM. Odin closes out its campaign 12-17 and says goodbye to just one senior, Dylan Potter.

In the second game, Grayville ended any hopes Neoga had of a regional championship by downing the Indians 60-50.

Neoga and Grayville played to a 14-14 opening quarter tie. The Indians had three pointers by Caleb Hill and Jackson Clark.

But in the second quarter, Grayville took a 27-20 halftime lead on four baskets by Hatcher and five points from Leavens. Neoga could muster only three baskets.

Grayville then continued to pull away with a 20-15 third quarter and finished strong from the free throw line for the 60-50 victory.

Neoga was led by two players in double figures. Hill tallied 13 while Clayton Butler chipped in with 10.
