Effingham played host to Mount Vernon and picked up two victories in freshman/sophomore boys basketball action Wednesday.
The Hearts won 51-47 in A competition. EHS held a 27-20 halftime lead then held off Mount Vernon in the second half.
Hagler tallied 14 points while Jackson added 12 and Marxman 10 for the Hearts.
In the B contest, Effingham claimed a 42-30 victory. The Hearts led 16-8 at halftime and had a 26-22 second half.
The Hearts were led by Beck with 10 and Donsbach with eight.
