PANA -- Effingham High School came back from a win over Mount Zion Friday evening and pounded Pana 84-45 in a non-conference boys basketball victory Saturday.

The Hearts ripped off to a 32-17 opening quarter lead. Grant Wolfe tallied nine points while Landon Wolfe and Trevor Kreke scored seven each.

EHS held a 47-29 halftime lead and then had a 25-5 third quarter run. G. Wolfe connected on two three-pointers in the quarter and finished with eight. Jacob Donaldson also got on a roll and scored eight points.

The Hearts had five players in double figures. G. Wolfe tallied 24 while Donaldson had 17, Brent Beals 16, L. Wolfe 13 and Kreke 10.

The Hearts won the junior varsity game 53-38.

LOVC/NTC Shootout

Cumberland High School hosted the Little Okaw Valley Conference vs. National Trail Confrence Boys Basketball Shootout Saturday.

Scores for the day were North Clay (Louisville) beat Martinsville 55-44, Dieterich downed Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond 59-42, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City defeated Tri-County 63-57 and Neoga won over Hutsonville/Palestine 50-46.

In the second half, Arcola beat South Central 57-49, Okaw Valley edged St. Elmo/Brownstown 55-53, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg beat Cumberland 49-47 and Altamont won over Villa Grove/Heritage 55-36.
