Sharpshooters are 7-1A State Champs; St. Anthony Wins 7-2A Third Place Contest

Congratulations to the Sigel St. Michael Sharpshooters, the 7-1A Boys Basketball State Champions.
St. Michael won the title in style Thursday night, defeating Bartonville Monroe 62-39 in action at East Peoria Central Junior High School.
The Sharpshooters were already up 20-9 after one quarter and topped that in the second period, outscoring Monroe 23-9 to lead 43-18 at halftime.
Craig Croy led St. Michael with 26 points while Max Niebrugge added 17 points. Also for the Sharpshooters: Colton Fearday 7, Dylan Will 4, Daniel Lee 4, Ryan Koester 2, and Brayden Gaddis and Kaden Young 1 apiece.
Other members of the St. Michael squad are Kolton Tedrick, Joseph Lee, Kaden Will, and Teagan Monroe.
St. Michael finished their state championship season with a record of 25-1.

St. Anthony finished third at the Class 7-2A State Tournament.
St. Anthony won the third place game at the 7-2A State Tournament at Clinton High School, defeating Ashland A-C Central 37-17.
The Bullpups led 9-3 after one quarter, 18-7 at halftime, and 23-15 after three quarters before outscoring A-C Central 14-2 in the fourth quarter to post the 20-point win.
Kyle Stewart led a balanced St. Anthony attack with 12 points. Also for the Bullpups: Angelo Mendella 8, Josh Blanchette 6, Ivan Dong and Brody Niebrugge 4 apiece, and Thomas Chojnicki 3.
Other St. Anthony squad members are Henry Kemme, Kevin Gonzales, Seth Williams, and Eli Link.
St. Anthony finishes the season with an 18-7 record.
