T-town, St. Michael Headed To Jr. High State

Teutopolis will be competing in the Class 8-3A State Tournament after winning the Paris Mayo Sectional.

PARIS -- Teutopolis Junior High School downed Marshall 45-33 to win the Class 8-3A Paris Mayo Boys Basketball Sectional Wednesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes edged out to a 15-12 opening quarter lead and led 22-17 at halftime. Marshall came back with a 14-9 third period run to tie the score at 31-31 going into the final quarter.

T-town then put on a big push and had a 14-2 run for the victory.

Addis tallied 15 while M. Deters scored 12 for the Shoes. Hardiek chipped in with eight and Wermert added seven.

The Shoes improve to 21-4 and will head to the Class 3A Eighth-Grade State Tournament at Tolono Unity Junior High School Saturday at 10 a.m. to face Mossville (22-3).

Class 1A Mulberry Grove Sectional

Sigel St. Michael picked up a victory to move on to Class 1A State Tournament action.

The Sharpshooters handed Pana Sacred Heart a 50-23 loss. St. Michael improved to 20-5 on the season and will head to Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington Saturday for first round play.

St. Michael will face Ottawa Marquette (22-2) at 1 p.m.

Class 2A St. Anthony Sectional

Efifngham St. Anthony saw its season come to a close in its own sectional.

The Bullpups fell to Paris Crestwood 50-30. Crestwood edged out to a 9-3 opening quarter and led only 17-15 at halftime. But Crestwood held a 31-26 lead going into the final period then had a 19-4 run.

Walsh tallied 10 for the Bullpups while Antrim chipped in with eight.
