Class 8-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional

Sigel St. Michael defeated Effingham Sacred Heart in the first game of the evening at the St. Michael Regional Monday.

The Sharpshooters won 52-22.

In the second contest, Dieterich beat Martinsville 62-43.

Sigel St. Michael and Dieterich will now meet for the championship today at 6 p.m.

 

Class 2A Effingham St. Anthony Regional

St. Anthony advanced to the championship game of its own regional with a 52-24 win over North Clay (Louisville) Monday.

In the second contest, Hutsonville downed St. Elmo/Brownstown 38-35.

St. Anthony meets Hutsonville at 7 p.m. today for the championship.

 

Class 8-3A Teutopolis Regional

It will be Teutopolis and Cumberland meeting for the championship of this regional.

The Wooden Shoes opened the evening with a 55-17 pounding of Lawrenceville Parkview. The Shoes took a 39-7 halftime lead.

M. Deters tallied 16 and Addis 14 for the winners.

In the second game, Cumberland edged Casey-Westfield 41-38.

Teutopolis will face Cumberland at 6 p.m. Thursday for the regional championship.

Class 8-4A Effingham Regional

Effingham saw its season come to a close with a 47-39 loss to Charleston Monday evening.

Charleston edged out to a 10-8 opening quarter and led 23-16 at halftime.  Effingham came back with a 14-7 third period to tie the score at 30-30 going into the final quarter. Charleston then rallied with a 17-9 run for the 47-39 victory.

Wolfe tallied 16 and Duncan 11 for the Mustangs who end the season with a 15-7 record.

In the opening game, Taylorville edged Mount Zion 37-35.

Taylorville will now face Charleston at 6 p.m. today for the regional championship.
