TEUTOPOLIS -- Casey-Westfield captured the championship of the Class 7-3A Teutopolis Boys Basketball Regional Thursday evening.
Casey-Westfield edged host Teutopolis 38-36. T-town stepped out to an 11-4 opening quarter lead. Casey-Westfield came back in the second period to get untracked and trailed 21-18 at halftime. Casey-Westfield then had a 14-11 third quarter and outscored the Shoes 6-4 in the final period to pull out the two-point victory.
Bushur and Bannick tallied 15 points each to lead the Shoes.
Casey-Westfield advances to the Marshall Sectional and will face Georgetown Mary Miller at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 1.
In other sectional play February 1, Sigel St. Michael will compete in its own Class 7-1A Sectional against Pana Sacred Heart at 6:30 p.m.
Effingham St. Anthony will also host a sectional and will take on Findlay Okaw Valley Feb. 1 at 6:30 p.m.
The winners will advance to state tournament play.
