Bulldogs Edge Pana at Vandalia Tourney, WSS, Neoga Drop Games

VANDALIA -- Effingham St. Anthony edged Pana 50-48 at the Vandalia Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament Tuesday.
The Bulldogs held a 17-12 opening quarter lead but Pana came back to pull within 29-27 at halftime. The Panthers moved ahead 39-35 going into the final period. St. Anthony came back with a 15-9 run for the victory.
Drew Gibson, a 6-foot-3 senior, tallied 25 points for the Bulldogs. Alex Beesley and Jack Nuxoll pulled down six rebounds each.
St. Anthony improved to 12-1.
In other scores, Flora downed Shelbyivlle 72-61, atoak beat Father McGivney 62-24, Vandalia downd Ramsey 71-36, Shelbyville won over Father McGiveny 69-36 and Patoka beat Flora 54-45.

Tri-County Holiday Tournament
Westville picked up a 55-37 victory over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in the opening game at the Tri-County Holiday Tournament Tuesday.
Westville held a 30-10 halftime lead and held off WSS in the second half.
Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Nic Hutchinson with 11 points.
In other games, Chrisman beat Hutsonville/Palestine 62-32, Paris won over Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond 46-34 and Tri-County downed Martinsville 60-53.
Windsor/Stew-Stras will take on ALAH at 9 a.m. today followed by Tri-County vs. Chrisman at 10:30 and Hutsonville/Palestine vs. Martinsville at noon before the Hatchets meet Paris at 1:30 p.m. Martinsville will take on Chrisman at 3 followed by Westville against ALAH at 4:30, Hutsonville/Palestine facing Tri-County at 6 and Westville meeting Paris at 7:30.

Monticello Holiday Tournament
Neoga fell to Argenta-Oreana in opening round play at the Monticello Tournament Tuesday, 58-46.
Argenta-Oreana took a 12-6 opening quarter lead and led by that same six-point margin, 23-17 at halftime. A-O then had a 35-29 second half.
Neoga had one player in double figures. Drew Ramert, a 5-foot-11 junior, scored 20 points. Mitchell Cornell led in rebounding for the Indians with 10.
In other games, GCMS beat Tuscola 64-54, Monticello won over Sangamon Valley 67-32, Ridgeview edged Paxton-Buckley-Loda 60-59 in two overtimes, GCMS beat Sangamon Valley 79-52 and Monticello downed Tuscola 71-31.
In today's action, Argenta-Oreana will face PBL at 10 a.m. followed by Neoga against Ridgeview at 11:30, Tuscola meeting Sangamon Valley at 2, Monticello against GCMS at 3:30, Ridgeview taking on Argenta-Oreana at 6 and PBL facing Neoga at 7:30 p.m.
