T-town, Altamont Nab Girls Basketball Wins

CARTERVILLE -- Teutopolis High School had three players score in double digits in a 56-37 win over Carterville in girls basketball action Monday evening.

The Wooden Shoes stepped out to a 19-7 opening quarter lead and never let go of the lead the rest of the way.

Sadie Bueker tallied 12 while Raegan Drees scored 11 and Jamie Sandschafer 10 for the Shoes.

Carterville could connect on only 11 baskets while scoring 12 of 22 from the free throw line.

T-town hit 20 field goals and were 14 of 24 at the line.

Okaw Valley Tournament

Altamont High School advanced in the Okaw Valley Holiday Tournament with a victory Monday evening.

The Indians handed Maroa-Forsyth a 67-54 loss. Altamont edged out to a 17-11 opening quarter lead and pushed that to 43-23 at halftime.

Three players connected for double figures. Leah Mayhaus tallied 19 while Shelbi Stone and Taylor Paquette scored 11 each.

The Indians advance to face Mount Zion at 8 p.m. today. Mount Zion beat LSA 42-31.

In other scores, Okaw Valley downed Blue Ridge 49-37 and Tolono Unity won over Martinsville 81-20.

Tonight's games feature Blue Ridge against Martinsville at 3:30, LSA facing Maroa-Forsyth at 5, Okaw Valley taking on University at 6:30 and Altamont against Mount Zion at 8. The tourney comes to a close Wednesday.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg nabbed a non-conference victory over Shelbyville Monday evening, 68-43.

WSS zipped off to a 21-12 opening quarter and had a 31-15 second half.

Megan Schlechte tallied 22 points. Also in double figures were Nikki Trussell with 16 and Katrina Davis with 10.

Casey-Westfield came calling and downed host North Clay (Louisville) 63-57.

The Warriors moved ahead 19-13 after the opening quarter and led 39-32 at halftime. The Cardinals came back with a 14-11 third period to pull within 50-47 but Casey-Westfield had a 13-11 final period.

North Clay was led by Taylor Jones with 27 while Madi Craig had 15.
