Olney beat Effingham on a long last-second shot in eighth grade boys basketball Thursday.

Olney's Flannagan hit a 35-foot three-pointer at the buzzer to win the game 42-41 in a heartbreaking loss for Effingham. It completed a 16-9 fourth quarter comeback for Olney.

Duncan led Effingham with 24 points. Other scorers for the Mustangs: Woelfer 7, Wolfe 6, Stoneburner 2, and Briggerman 2. Flannagan led Olney with 16 points. 

Effingham's 8th graders are 9-5 on the season; Olney is 9-4.

Olney won the 7th grade game 53-29. 

For Effingham: Volpi 12, Pals 11, Fox 2, Eaton 2 and Ritz 2. The Effingham 7th graders are now 2-12 on the season.
