Mulberry Grove, St. Elmo/Brownstown Winners at St. Elmo Tournament

Mulberry Grove and St. Elmo/Brownstown were winners Thursday night in action at the 57th Annual St. Elmo Holiday Tournament.

Mulberry Grove defeated Clay City 76-42, while St. Elmo/Brownstown won over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 72-54. The key was the second quarter, when Mulberry Grove posted a 27-6 margin to lead 36-11 at halftime.

Latham led Mulberry Grove with 22 points, while Sloan added 15 points, Jake Linnabury 13 and Joey Linnabury 11 points. Wilkins with 19 points and Miller with 14 points paced Clay City.

In the other contest, SEB held a 16-13 lead over CHBC after one quarter. The Eagles had extended the lead to 30-22 at halftime and 50-38 after three quarters before outscoring the Bobcats 22-16 in the fourth quarter to post an 18-point win.

Landon Feezel poured in 31 points to lead the Eagles. Isaac Maxey added 15 points and Klayton Kroll 13. Also for SEB: Lewis Brown 6, Dylan Brooks 4, and Joel Logue 3.

Cody Grove and Konner Blackerby shared scoring honors for CHBC with 16 points apiece. Also for the Bobcats: Aaron Nohren 8, Mason Stewart 6, Troy Buzzard 4, Marshall Nohren 2, and Nick Miller 2.

Tonight at St. Elmo: South Central vs. Ramsey at 6:15pm, and Cumberland vs. Vandalia at 7:45pm. The tournament wraps up on Saturday.
