Mattoon, Fairfield Girls Tourney Pairings Released

Effingham St. Anthony will be competing in the 38th Annual Mattoon Girls Holiday Basketball Tournament while Teutopolis will travel to the Merry Mules Girls Basketball Tournament at Fairfield the week after Christmas.

Mattoon Holiday Tournament

St. Anthony is in Pool A along with Mattoon, Vandalia and Olney at the Mattoon Tournament. Pool B members are Galesburg, Salem, Decatur MacArthur and Sullivan.

The tournament begins Tuesday, December 27 and St. Anthony will square off against Vandalia in a 1 p.m. contest then take on Mattoon at 7:30 p.m.

In Wednesday, December 28 action, St. Anthony meets Olney at 1 p.m.

The squads advance to games depending on how they finished in pool play from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Finals are scheduled Thursday,  December 29.

Merry Mule Tournament

Teutopolis will be competing in the Merry Mule Tournament at Fairfield High School Monday, December 26 and Tuesday, December 27.

Teutopolis is competing in Pool B with Flora and Woodlawn at Center Street School. In Pool C are Carmi, Murphysboro and Robinson, also at Center Street School.

In Pool A are Champaign Central, Fairfield and Galatia at Fairfield High School. Also at the high school in Pool D are Lawrenceville, North Posey and Wayne City.

Monday's Teutopolis games include a 1:30 contest against Woodlawn and a 5:30 p.m. game against Flora.

The semifinals and finals are scheduled for Tuesday, December 27 beginning at 10 a.m. with the championship game at 7:45 p.m.
