Bullpups Finish Fourth in Class 7-2A State Tourney

PARIS -- Effingham St. Anthony fell to Paris Crestwood 18-13 in the third place game at the Class 7-2A State Girls Basketball Tournament Thursday evening.
The two squads were tied at 2-2 after the opening quarter. Crestwood moved ahead 7-6 at halftime then had an 11-7 second half for the victory.
Isabelle Hakman led the Bullpups with four points while Riley Guy added three. St. Anthony ends the season with a 22-3 record.
The team will be honored Friday, for its accomplishments at the Class 7-2A State Tournament. The event will be held at 2:30 p.m. at St. Anthony Junior High School.
Mendon Unity won the state championship by beating Winchester 34-22. Mendon Unity finished at 21-2 while Winchester suffered its first loss and finished at 24-1.
