St. Anthony Nabs NTC Win Over CHBC, Area Scores

The St. Anthony Bulldogs posted a convincing 55-21 victory over the CHBC Bobcats in Thursday night National Trail Conference girls basketball action at the Enlow Center. The contest was heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com.
St. Anthony took advantage of its experience and an aggressive defense to shut down the less-experienced Bobcats. St. Anthony led 11-2 after one quarter, 26-6 at halftime, and 40-11 after three quarters.
St. Anthony forced CHBC into 27 turnovers, leading to 10 more shots from the field. The Bulldogs hit 20 of 44 from the field for 46% including one of seven threes. St. Anthony made 14 of 22 foul shots and turned the ball over 14 times. CHBC was 8 of 34 from the field for 24% including 1 of 6 on threes. The Bobcats hit just 4 of 12 foul shots. The rebounding battle was close with St. Anthony posting a 30-27 edge.
Ten of the 11 Bulldogs ended up in the scoring column. Abby Weis led with 13 points, while Abbie Schmidt and Olivia Clausius each scored 10 points. Also for theBulldogs: Shea Kinkelaar 6, Sydney Gibson 4, Jessica Coffin 4, Meg Richards 2, Keri McGuire 2, Maryann Saba 2, and Abby Repking 2.
Jaelyn Robertson led CHBC with 9 points, while Tabitha Endsley scored 7, Lauren Wojcik 4, and Felicia Johnson 1.
St. Anthony improved to 8-3 on the season, while CHBC is now 5-5. The Bulldogs are back in action Monday playing host to Teutopolis.
CHBC won the JV game 35-33. Robertson led the Lady Bobcats in the JV game as well with 17 points. Shea Kinkelaar led St. Anthony with 13 points.
