SIGEL -- Sigel St. Michael and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City will square off for the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament after picking up wins Tuesday evening.
St. Michael opened the evening with a 59-37 win over Neoga.
In the second game, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City beat Stewardson-Strasburg 41-30. CHBC took a 9-6 opening quarter lead and led 19-13 at halftime. CHBC then had an 11-4 third period run.
Lucas led the way for the winners with 14 points while Persinger chipped in with 10.
Stew-Stras was led by Wernsing with 21 points. Stew-Stras dropped to 8-6 on the season.
The NTC Tournament comes to a close Thursday with North Clay (Louisville) facing Dieterich at 5:30 p.m. for the consolation championship, Neoga taking on Stew-Stras at 6:45 p.m. for third place and Sigel St. Michael against CHBC for the championship at 8 p.m.
