Sigel St. Michael, Neoga, Stewardson-Strasburg and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City advanced in the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament during the weekend.

In Friday action, Altamont won over Effingham Sacred Heart 25-16 and Stewardson-Strasburg downed Windsor 54-27.

In Saturday play, Sigel St. Michael defeated Altamont 46-11 while Neoga won over North Clay (Louisville) 40-31, Stew-Stras beat Dieterich 42-37 and CHBC handed St. Elmo/Brownstown a 45-18 loss.

The tournament continues tonight as Altamont faces North Clay at 6:15 and Dieterich takes on St. Elmo/Brownstown at 7:30 in consolation bracket play. Tuesday's games feature St. Michael against Neoga at 6:15 and Stew-Stras facing CHBC at 7:30 in winner bracket play.

At Effingham

Teutopolis picked up two B victories over Effingham in action Friday.

T-town won the seventh-grade B contest 35-32. Meyer and Newlin tallied seven points each for the winners.

Effingham was led by Ritz with 13.

In the eighth-grade B contest, T-town had a 9-0 third quarter to pull out a 26-13 win. Weidner scored seven to lead the way for the Shoes.

Effingham was led by Blickem and Stoneburner with four each.

At Mattoon, Olney

In weekend action for Effingham St. Anthony, the Bullpups beat Mattoon in seventh and eighth-grade B action Friday while splitting with Olney in competition Saturday.

In the Friday games, St. Anthony beat Mattoon 33-22 in the seventh-grade contest. Eli Link tallied 13 points for the winners.

In the eighth-grade B game, St. Anthony was a 31-27 winner. Willenborg scored nine for the Bullpups.

In the Saturday contests against Olney, the homestanders won the seventh-grade game 41-36.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony picked up the eighth-grade game 53-42 to improve to 7-1 on the season.
