Seventh-Grade Girls State Results -- Dec. 3

Effingham St. Anthony is the lone team still remaining in seventh-grade state girls basketball competition after Saturday play.

St, Anthony defeated Lockport Taft to start the day 31-21. The Bullpups held a 16-12 halftime lead and had a 15-9 second half.

Eve Strullmyer tallied 10 to lead the winners.

The Bullpups then took on Mendon Unity and fell in a close 29-25 contest. St. Anthony led 13-11 at halftime and 23-19 going into the final quarter. Mendon Unity then had a 10-2 run to pull out a 29-25 victory.

Riley Guy tallied 12 for the Bullpups.

St. Anthony will now face Paris Crestwood at 6 p.m. Thursday for third place.

Mendon Unity will square off against Winchester at 7:30 for the state championship.

Class 7-3A State Tournament

Teutopolis fell in its first game at the Class 7-3A State Tournament. The Wooden Shoes dropped behind Germantown Hills 10-1 in the first quarter and never recovered, falling 31-10.

Isabella Hardiek led the way with four points.

Class 7-4A State Tournament

Effingham saw its season come to a close with a 38-13 loss to Normal Parkside.

Normal Parkside took a 15-0 opening quarter lead and led 29-2 at halftime.

The Mustangs were led by Camryn Duncan with four points.
