Effingham played host to Mattoon and split junior high boys basketball victories Tuesday evening.
In the seventh-grade B game, Mattoon claimed a 33-26 win. Mattoon led 14-7 at halftime. Effingham was led in scoring by Ritz and Christianson with seven points each.
In the eighth-grade B contest, Effingham downed Mattoon 41-27. The two teams were tied at 19-19 at halftime. The Mustangs then had a 12-2 third quarter surge and claimed the win.
Banres scored 10 for the winners.

At Altamont
Salem Franklin Park came calling and picked up two victories over Altamont Tuesday evening.
Salem was a 43-11 winner in seventh-grade competition. Salem held a 33-2 halftime lead. Schultz led Altamont with four points.
In the eighth-grade contest, Salem trailed Altamont 18-16 at halftime then put together a 17-4 third period surge and went on for a 40-33 victory.
Altamont had two players in double figures, Kaden Eirhart with 15 and Hunter Cripe with 11.

At Newton
Sigel St. Michael picked up two victories over Jasper County Tuesday evening.
The Sharpshooters took a 19-15 opening quarter lead in seventh-grade play then put the contest away with a 22-4 second period. Croy scored a whopping 34 points for the winners while Niebrugge chipped in with 12.
Jasper County had two players in double figures. Meinhart tallied 12 and Schafer 10.
In the eighth-grade contest, Sigel St. Michael was a 46-23 winner over Jasper County.
The Sharpshooters led 19-8 at halftime and had a 20-11 third quarter run. Walk and Croy scored 14 each while Niebrugge chipped in with 10.
Jasper County was led by Zumbahlen with seven points.
