Effingham Junior High School played host to Charleston in boys basketball and split wins Thursday evening.

The Mustangs fell in the seventh-grade game 47-36. Charleston held a 25-19 halftime lead and outscored the Mustangs 22-17 in the second half. Eaton led Effingham with 10 points as the Mustangs dropped to 1-5.

In eighth-grade play, Effingham edged Charleston 48-47. Charleston held a 26-23 halftime lead. Effingham came back to tie the score at 33-33 going into the final quarter. Effingham then pushed ahead by seven with 1:24 on the clock. Charleston closed to within four points and hit a three-pointer at the buzzer.

Effingham was led by Wolfe with 17 points. Briggerman pulled down seven rebounds. Effingham improved to 5-1.

At Effingham

Altamont came calling and claimed two wins over Effingham Sacred Heart.

Altamont won the seventh-grade game 32-28. Reardon tallied 11 for the winners. The Shamrocks were led by Feldhake with 14.

In eighth-grade play, Altamont edged Sacred Heart 38-35. Eirhart scored 15 and Mathesius 10 for Altamont. Wallace and Prummer led Sacred Heart with 10 each.

At Strasburg

Sigel St. Michael came to town and claimed two victories over Stewardson-Strasburg Thursday evening.

St. Michael won the seventh-grade encounter 33-23. Stew-Stras dropped to 3-5.

Niebrugge and Croy tallied eight points each for the winners. Stew-Stras was led by Kirby and Vonderheide with six each.

In the eighth-grade contest, the Sharpshooters won 42-7, taking a 28-3 halftime lead. Croy scored 12 and A. Fearday 10 for Sharpshooters. Walden tallied three for Stew-Stras which drops to 0-8.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis claimed two wins over Jasper County Thursday evening.

T-town won the seventh-grade contest 46-25. Jasper County held a 21-15 halftime lead but T-town came out with an 18-2 run in the third quarter.

Bushur tallied 33 and M. Althoff scored 13 for the winners. Tharp led Jasper County with 11.

In the eighth-grade game, T-town pounded in 62 points for a 62-8 victory. Eleven players scored for the Shoes who were led by M. Deters and Ruholl with 12 each and Addis with 10.

North Clay (Louisville) picked up two wins over Windsor Thursday evening.

North Clay won the seventh-grade game 47-17. Logan Fleener tallied 17 for the winners. Windsor was led by Robbie McDaniel, Brogan Bartimus and Brady Upton with four each.

In the eighth-grade game, North Clay won 42-24. North Clay held a 27-9 halftime lead. Ethan Bible scored 15 to lead the way. Landen Miller led Windsor with 10.
