Effingham Junior High School claimed two wins over Robinson Nuttall in boys basketball action Tuesday evening.
The Mustangs won the seventh-grade encounter 44-27. EJHS edged out to a 17-14 halftime lead then had a 19-4 third quarter run. Pals and Ritz tallied nine points each for the Mustangs who improve to 1-4.
In eighth-grade play, Effingham won 57-12. The Mustangs pushed out to a 19-1 opening quarter lead and never looked back. Wolfe tallied 11 and N. Thompson scored 10 as they led 13 players who scored. The Mustangs improved to 4-1 on the season.

Effingham Sacred Heart split victories with Mattoon St. John Tuesday.
The Shamrocks won the seventh-grade contest 32-11. Karolewicz tallied seven points while Albert and Hakman had six each.
In eighth-grade play, Mattoon St. John won 32-29. Leading the Shamrocks were Karolewicz and Carie with nine each.

At Strasburg
South Central came calling and captured two victories over Stewardson-Strasburg Tuesday evening.
South Central won the seventh-grade game 39-29. Willshire tallied 27 points for the winners. Stew-Stras was led by Beals with 17 as the squad dropped to 3-4.
In eighth-grade play, South Central held an 18-6 first half lead and went on for a 37-15 victory. Dodson tallied 14 for the winners. Sayers led Stew-Stras with six points as the team fell to 0-7.

Altamont Lutheran and St. Elmo/Brownstown split junior high boys basketball victories Tuesday.
Altamont Lutheran claimed the seventh-grade contest 30-26.
In eighth-grade action, St. Elmo/Brownstown was a 46-40 winner.
At Clay City
North Clay (Louisville) easily won over Clay City in action Tuesday.
North Clay captured the seventh-grade encounter 46-9. North Clay took a 21-4 halftime lead. Jacob Byers and Brady Ingram tallied eight points each for the winners.
In eighth-grade action, Clay City took a 12-8 opening quarter lead and led 23-18 at halftime. However, North Clay charged back with a 28-4 third period and never looked back. Ethan Bible tallied 26 while Kaleb Anthony had 12 for the winners.
