Effingham Junior High School picked up two victories in girls basketball competition Monday evening.
The Mustangs won the seventh-grade game 32-11, leading 15-6 at halftime and 24-11 going into the final quarter. Sowell tallied 10 for the winners who improve to 11-6. Boerngen and Meinhart had four each for Dieterich.
In the eighth-grade contest, Effingham won 38-24. Dieterich held a 14-6 opening quarter lead and the score was tied at 16-16 at halftime. The Mustangs then came out in the third period with a 13-4 run. Diveley tallied 20 for the Mustangs while Armstrong added nine. Effingham is now 9-8. Dieterich was led by Bloemer and Locey with six each.

At Vandalia
Teutopolis and Vandalia split victories Monday evening.
In the seventh-grade game,Teutopolis held Vandalia scoreless in the first quarter and garnered a 32-10 victory. Macy Probst scored 12 points for the Wooden Shoes. T-town improves to 17-3.
In eighth-grade action, Vandalia was a 19-14 winner. Kylie Hoelscher tallied eight for the Shoes who drop to 11-9.

At Altamont
Altamont was a winner in both games against Okaw Valley Monday evening.
Altamont won the seventh-grade game 32-20. McManaway got the squad off in the right direction with eight of her team's 12 points in the opening quarter and Altamont led 20-6 at halftime. Rem. Miller tallied 10 for the winners.
In the eighth-grade contest, Altamont pounded Okaw Valley 45-6. Altamont held Okaw Valley to one basket in the opening half while taking a 34-2 lead. Altamont was led in scoring by Runge with 17 and Goeckner with 13.

At Martinsville
Jasper County picked up a victory while Martinsville also won in action Monday evening.
In seventh-grade play, Jasper County edged Martinsville 10-9. Sydney Dobbins scored six for the winners.
Martinsville was a 30-25 winner in eighth-grade action. Martinsville led 19-9 at halftime but Jasper County fought back to tie the score at 25-25, sending the game into overtime. Martinsville then tallied five points in the overtime session to pull out the victory. Jasper County was led by Whitney Zumbahlen with 18 points.
