Effingham Sacred Heart picked up a victory but also suffered a loss against Cumberland in girls junior high basketball competition Tuesday evening.

The Shamrocks won the seventh-grade encounter 17-11. Karolewicz tallied 14 of the 17 points for Sacred Heart.

In the eighth-grade contest, Cumberland had even scoring as Mitchell tallied six and Yaw and Brown five each in a 20-16 victory. Sacred Heart was led by Carie with eight points.

At Effingham

At Ramsey

Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor trounced Ramsey in eighth-grade action 40-5. SSW took a 25-1 opening half lead and never looked back.

Hayes tallied 17 and Megan Nichols 15 for the winners who improve to 14-5.

In seventh-grade play, Ramsey was a 20-14 winner. Ramsey held a 10-2 first half lead. Hayes led Stew-Stras/Windsor with seven points as the squad fell to 1-16.

At Salem

Teutopolis and Salem Franklin Park split victories Tuesday evening.

T-town was a 32-7 winner in seventh-grade play to improve to 15-3. T-town held Franklin Park scoreless for a 25-0 first half lead. Izzy Hardiek led the way with 12 points.

In eighth-grade action, Salem Franklin Park downed T-town 44-17. Franklin Park held a 32-14 halftime lead. Carly Michels led the Shoes with eight points. T-town drops to 11-7.

At Shelbyville

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City handed Shelbyville two losses Tuesday evening.

CHBC won the seventh-grade game, 32-24. The score was tied at 10-10 at halftime before CHBC took a 20-16 third quarter lead and had a 12-8 final period run. Lani Morrison tallied 15 and Gracie Heckert 10 for the winners who improve to 9-9 on the season.

In the eighth-grade game, CHBC was a 54-14 winner. CHBC took a 39-10 first half lead and was never headed the rest of the way. Madison Cherry scored 17 and Carsen Burks 14. CHBC improved to 11-7.
