Junior High Girls Basketball -- Nov. 5

MONTICELLO -- Teutopolis downed Monticello and St. Joseph in girls junior high basketball competition Saturday at the Monticello Shootout.

T-town won the seventh-grade game over Monticello 28-9 with a 15-2 second quarter run. Isabella Hardiek led the winners with nine points.

In eighth-grade action, T-town claimed a 21-3 victory over Monticello. Carly Michels scored 14 for the Shoes.

In action against St. Joseph, T-town won the seventh-grade game 22-10 with Macy Probst scoring eight. T-town also nabbed the eighth-grade victory 17-13. Michels scored 15. T-town is 10-6 in eighth-grade play and 13-3 in seventh-grade action.

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony captured the championship of its own Eighth-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament Saturday.

St. Anthony downed Sacred Heart 31-7 while Stew-Stras/Windsor won over Cumberland 17-12.

In the third place contest, Cumberland beat Sacred Heart 17-15.

In the championship, St. Anthony edged Stew-Stras/Windsor 18-17.

At Newton

Marshall came calling and captured two wins over Jasper County Saturday.

In the seventh-grade matchup, Marshall downed Jasper County 32-11 with a 14-2 opening quarter run. Amber Russell led Jasper County with six points.

In eighth-grade play, Marshall claimed a 24-11 win. Whitney Zumbahlen scored seven for Jasper County.
