Effingham Sacred Heart picked up two victories over Mattoon in boys junior high school basketball action Thursday.

The Shamrocks won the seventh-grade contest 39-22. Tegeler tallied 16 and Wallace 13 for the winners.

In eighth-grade action, Sacred Heart won 32-21. Zerrusen scored 14 for the Shamrocks.

At Effingham

At Altamont

Teutopolis easily handled Altamont in both games Thursday evening.

T-town won the seventh-grade contest 59-4. The Wooden Shoes took a 27-2 opening quarter lead. Althoff and Bushur scored 12 points each for the winners. Altamont was led by Suckow and Reardon with two points each.

In eighth-grade play, T-town was a 56-8 winner. T-town held a 27-4 halftime lead. M. Deters scored 15 and Wermert 13 for the Shoes. Altamont was led by Abendroth with four.

At Strasburg

Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor and North Clay (Louisville) each picked up a victory Thursday evening.

SSW won the seventh-grade contest 31-24. North Clay led 12-10 at halftime before SSW took a 21-12 second half run. Wernsing tallied 17 for the winners who improved to 2-0. H. Dawkins, Fleener and Griffy had seven each for North Clay.

In eighth-grade action, North Clay held a 14-5 first half lead then held SSW scoreless in the third quarter and went on for a 31-7 victory. Bible scored 10 while Anthony had nine for the winners. Slifer led SSW with three as the squad dropped to 0-2.
