CENTRALIA -- Effingham and Centralia picked up a victory each in junior high girls basketball competition Tuesday evening.
The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest 39-16 with a 20-9 halftime lead. Sowell tallied 16 for the winners who improve to 5-2.
In eighth-grade play, Centralia was a 44-29 winner. The Mustangs were led by Diveley with 15 and Armstrong with 12. Effingham drops to 3-4.

At St. Anthony
Effingham St. Anthony handed Dieterich and Sigel St. Michael losses in seventh-grade play Monday and Tuesday.
The Bullpups won over Dieterich in the seventh-grade game 39-16 Monday. St. Anthony held a 25-2 halftime lead. Riley Guy tallied 10 points for the winners. Dieterich was led by Boerngen with eight.
In the seventh-grade game Tuesday, St. Anthony won 29-11. Sigel St. Michael tallied only one basket over the first three quarters as St. Anthony led 19-2.
The Bullpups were led by Sophia Clausius with seven and Guy with six. St. Michael was led by Cremens with four.
In eighth-grade action Monday, St. Anthony beat Dieterich 28-18. The Bullpups trailed Dieterich 6-4 after the opening quarter and the score was tied at 9-9 at halftime. St. Anthony then had a 6-2 third quarter run and otuscored Dieterich 13-7 in the final period.
Elizabeth Kabbes led St. Anthony with 11 points. Dieterich was led by Locey with six.
In Tuesday's eighth-grade game, Sigel St. Michael beat St. Anthony 23-18. The Sharpshooters led 9-4 at halftime and 18-12 going into the final quarter. St. Michael was led by Bueker with 10 points. St. Anthony was led by Elizabeth Kabbes and Kate Hartke with five each.

At Teutopolis
Teutopolis easily handled Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in action Tuesday evening.
T-town was a 39-5 winner in seventh-grade play and improves to 9-1 on the season. Isabella Hardiek tallied eight to lead the winners. Hayes led SSW with four points as the squad dropped to 0-12.
In eighth-grade play, T-town took an 11-0 opening quarter lead and never looked back in a 24-9 victory. Carly Michels scored 11 for the Shoes who improve to 6-4. SSW was led by Mikala Nichols with four points. The team falls to 7-3.

At Altamont
Altamont and Effingham Sacred Heart split victories Tuesday.
In the seventh-grade game, the Shamrocks were winners 27-20. The two teams were tied at 10-10 in the first half before Sacred Heart edged ahead 18-16 in the third quarter and had an 8-4 final period run.
Karolewicz led the Shamrocks with 10 points. Altamont was led by McManaway with eight points.
In the eighth-grade contest, Altamont was a 53-15 winner. Altamont led 27-8 at halftime. Runge tallied 27 for the winners. Sacred Heart was led by Rozene with seven points.

Jasper County fell in two games to Flora Tuesday.
Flora won the seventh-grade game 19-10. Amber Russell led Jasper County with six points.
