Brownstown Wins NTC Seventh-Grade Championship

ST. ELMO -- Brownstown Junior High School won the championship of the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament Saturday.
Brownstown defeated Altamont 23-11, taking a 14-2 halftime lead. Deana Shelton and Viramonks Fatima tallied six each while Dana Shelton added five.
In the third-place game, Effingham Sacred Heart was an 18-12 winner over Stewardson-Strasburg. Carie tallied eight and K. Cordes six for the winners.
In the consolation championship, Neoga was a 13-10 winner over Dieterich. Atwell scored nine for Neoga.
