Area Players To Compete in IBCA All-Star Basketball Games

Teutopolis High School's Brett Mette and Neoga High School's Elecia (EC) Thies will be competing in the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Games Saturday at the Pontiac Community High School Gym.

Game times are Class 1A-2A South Girls vs. 1A-2A North Girls at noon followed by Class 3A-4A South Girls vs. 3A-4A North Girls at 2 p.m. The Class 1A-2A South Boys will take on the Class 1A-2A North Boys at 4 p.m. followed by the Class 3A-4A South Boys vs. the Class 3A-4A North Boys at 6 p.m.

Admission for one session (either both girls or both boys games) is $5 while admission for both sessions (all games) is $8.

Mette will be competing for the Class 1A-2A South boys squad along with Brett Harris (Woodlawn), Austin Swalis (Carterville), Colin Slagle (West Central), Jaydon Jefferson (Westville), Brandt Cochran (Lawrenceville), Ross Owens (Woodlawn), David Holden (Greenville), Clayton Houghland (Pinckneyville), Matt Wendling (Athens), Garrett Shea (Warrensburg-Latham), Zach Fisher (Monticello), Kollin Seaman (Arcola) and Shandon Boone (Alton Marquette).

Coaching the South squad will be Vic Binkley (Warrensburg-Latham) with assistants Bret Reedy (Warrensburg-Latham) and Michael Rogers (Warrensburg-Latham). The North squad will be coached by Chad Cluver (Watseka) with assistants Greg Gisinger (Watseka) and Wayne Meyer (LeRoy).

Coaching the 3A-4A North squad will be Al Biancalana (DeKalb) with assistants Paul Maggiore (Downers Grove South) and Chris Davenport (DeKalb). Coaching the South squad will be Mark Cooper (Ottawa) with assistant coach Brent Anderson (Ottawa).

Thies will be competing on the Class 1A-2A South girls squad along with Crimson Jones (Flora), Carly Cameron (Hillsboro), Karson Severs (Sesser-Valier), Kendra Wilken (Breese Central), Abby Bush (Chrisman), Autumn Gunter (Christopher), Madelyn Hyer (Liberty), Halle McCrory (Tuscola), Jill Berg (Midwest Central), Mikah Maples (Central A&M), Kaylea Potter (Webber), Avery English (Carterville), Ryan Dooley (Central A&M) and Emily Nordsiek (Athens).

Coaching the South squad will be Tonya Conrad of Fairfield with assistant coach DeAirdra Dagg, also of Fairfield. Coaching the North squad will be Doug Swanson of Sherrard with assistant Jay Hatch of Rock Island Alleman.

The 3A-4A North squad will be coached by Mark Smith (Burlington Central) with assistant Kevin Jensen (Batavia). Coaching the South squad will be Janet Holst (Salem) with assistants Ellen Young (Salem) and Sara Rennie (Salem).
