SEB, Dieterich Pick Up Regional Victories

St. Elmo/Brownstown advanced in its own Class 1A boys basketball regional Tuesday evening.

SEB edged out to a 10-8 opening quarter lead on Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick and led 29-26 at halftime. SEB then rained down three-pointers in the third quarter with five and zipped out to a 10-point lead giong into the final quarter. SEB then had a 20-15 final period for a 74-59 victory.

Landon Feezel, a 6-foot-5 junior, scored 33 points for the winners. He hit 11 field goals including one three-pointer and was 10 of 10 at the line.

Also in double figures were Lewis Brown with 11 and Trey Pasley with 10.

BCCH was led by Konner Blackerby with 15 and Kyle Black with 14.

In the opening contest, Patoka ended Neoga's season with a 71-33 win.

Patoka held a 39-15 halftime lead and never looked back. Patoka had four players in double figures, J. Cain with 19, Belcher with 17, S. Cain with 13 and Dy. Back with 12.

Neoga was led by Caleb Hill and Trevor Easton with seven points each.

St. Elmo/Brownstown advances to face Patoka at 7:30 p.m. today, weather permitting, while Altamont takes on South Central in the opener at 6.

Class 1A Dieterich Regional

Dieterich had a big scoring second quarter in its 69-42 win over Hutsonville/Palestine Tuesday evening.

The Movin' Maroons trailed H/P 12-10 after the opening quarter but then went on a tear, outscoring H/P 25-8. The second half was a 34-22 run.

Lance Niemerg scored 17 points while Nick Feldhake and Travis Niemerg chipped in with 15 points each.

Dieterich advances to the championship game of its own regional and will take on either Red Hill (Bridgeport) or Oblong Friday at 7 p.m. Those two teams will play tonight, weather permitting.

Class 1A North Clay (Lousiville) Regional

Edwards County (Albion) and Sandoval picked up victories in this regional Tuesday evening.

Edwarsd County beat North Clay (Lousivilel) 77-52 in the opener. In the second game, Sandoval downed Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran 59-42.

Tonight's games, weather permitting, will be Cisne against Grayville at 6 p.m. followed by Edwards County taking on Sandoval at 7:30.

Class 2A Casey-Westfield Regional

Cumberland saw its season come to a close with a 70-59 loss to Lawrenceville in the first game of the evening at Casey-Westfield Tuesday.

In the second contest, Robinson took a 70-59 win over Newton. Robinson stepped out to a 31-19 halftime lead and had a 14-3 third period. Newton came back with a 37-25 final run but couldn't make up the big opening half lead by the Maroons.

Newton was led by Mammoser with 30 points and Cohorst with 13.
