EHS Girls Claim Senior Night Victory

Effingham High School finished out regular season girls basketball play with a 43-37 win over Olney and celebrated Senior Night Thursday.

The Hearts edged out to a 9-8 opening quarter lead and led 17-13 at halftime. The Tigers came back with a 15-12 third quarter run to pull within 29-28 going into the final period.

EHS had a 14-9 final quarter to pull out the victory.

Only one player hit double figures for the Hearts. Carsyn Fearday tallied 12 points. Marranda Steffen scored nine.

Seniors who will end their career at EHS were Shelby Nunamaker, Taylor Crowell, Marranda Steffen and Shayna Phillips.

Effingham will begin Class 3A regional play Monday night at Salem and will take on the same Olney team they just defeated Thursday night. Game time will be 7:30 p.m. Also Monday will be Centralia against Mount Vernon at 6 p.m.
