Effingham played host to Salem and claimed freshman/sophomore boys basketball victories Wednesday evening.
In the freshman contest, the Hearts claimed a 65-59 win. Three players hit double digits for EHS. Lucas Hagler tallied 17, 11 coming in the final quarter, Cooper Jackson added 16 and Dylan Bushur scored 13.
The Hearts held a slight 28-25 halftime lead and led by that same three-point margin going into the final quarter. EHS then had a 22-19 run.
In the sophomore game, the score was tied at 17-17 at halftime before the Hearts took a 12-7 third period run and outscored the Wildcats 14-6 in the final period.
Logan Smith was the lone player in the game to finish in double figures with 11. Seven other players scored for the Hearts.
