Altamont, BSE Advance To Girls Regional Title Game

FARINA -- Altamont and Brownstown/St. Elmo will square off for the championship of the Class 1A South Central Girls Basketball Regional after picking up victories Wednesday.

Altamont opened the evening with a 65-35 win over North Clay (Louisville). The Indians edged out to an 18-15 opening quarter lead and led 32-27 at halftime. Altamont then took off with a 14-1 third period run.

Mette tallied 15 while Duckwitz had 14 and Mayhaus 11 for the winners.

North Clay was led by Jones with 11.

In the second game, Brownstown/St. Elmo defeated Ramsey 60-40. BSE led 28-20 at halftime and played Ramsey even in the third period. BSE then finished strong with an 18-6 final quarter.

Brown tallied 21 for the winners while Moore chipped in with 10. BSE improves to 19-10 on the season.

Altamont and BSE meet tonight for the regional championship at 7 p.m.

Newton faces Robinson in the 2A Lawrenceville Regional at 7 p.m.

Teutopolis takes on Vandalia at 7 p.m. in the Class 2A Cumberland Regional

In the Class 1A Neoga Regional, Moweaqua Central A&M faces Nokomis at 7.
