Effingham St. Anthony claimed the championship of the Class 8-2A Neoga Boys Basketball Regional Thursday evening.
The Bullpups handed Arcola a 52-42 loss. Arcola edged out to a 13-10 opening quarter lead but St. Anthony came roaring back with a 15-5 second period to lead 25-18 at halftime. The Bullpups continued that momentum with a 13-7 third period.
Three players hit double digits for the winners. Webb tallied 13 while Dust scored 12 and Hoene chipped in with 11.
The Bullpups advance to the St. Elmo/Brownstown Sectional Wednesday, February 10 at 6:30 p.m. They will face Nokomis for the right to advance to the state tournament.

Class 1A Stewardson-Strasburg Regional
Stewardson-Strasburg saw its season come to a close in the championship game against Mulberry Grove, 46-31.
Mulberry Grove leaped out to a 17-4 opening quarter lead and never looked back.
Stew-Stras was led by Kirby and Jesgarz with 10 points each. The squad finishes the season with an 11-12 record.
Mulberry Grove advances to the Sigel St. Michael Sectional Wednesday, February 10 and will face host St. Michael at 6:30 p.m. for the right to advance to the state tournament.

Class 8-4A Mattoon Regional
Charleston picked up the regional championship victory over host Mattoon, 41-32.
Charleston now advances to the Effingham Sectional Wednesday, February 10 at 6:30 p.m. against Champaign Jefferson.
