Effingham St. Anthony captured its own seventh-grade boys basketball regional. Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School captured the championship of its own Class 7-2A boys basketball regional Wednesday evening.

The Bullpups easily beat Arcola 38-14. St. Anthony stepped out to an 8-0 opening quarter lead and pushed that to 23-5 at halftime.

Walsh tallied 20 points for the winners who now advance to their own sectional Wednesday, February 3 at 6:30 p.m. The Bullpups will face the winner of the Nokomis Regional, either Altamont or host Nokomis, who play tonight at 7 for the championship.

Class 7-4A Effingham Regional

Urbana captured the championship of the Effingham Regional Wednesday evening.

Urbana downed Charleston 53-34 and will now advance to the Tolono Unity Sectional Wednesday, February 3 at 6:30 p.m. Urbana will face the winner of the Danville North Ridge Regional, Danville South View. South View defeated Mahomet-Seymour 34-21 Wednesday evening.

 

SIJHSAA Regional Tournament

St. Peter and Patoka advanced in opening round play of the SIJHSAA Regional Tournament at Altamont Lutheran Wednesday evening.

St. Peter defeated Iuka 31-21 while Patoka bounced St. Theresa 64-22.

St. Peter faces Odin at 5:30 p.m. today while Patoka takes on Altamont Lutheran at 7. The winners advance to the championship game Saturday at 6 p.m.
