Mammoser Gets 1,000 Career Point, But Newton Falls at LIC Tourney

Brock Mammoser connected for his 1,000 career point but Newton High School fell to Red Hill (Bridgeport), 60-58 in the Little Illini Conference consolation bracket Wednesday evening.
Newton held a 14-11 opening quarter lead but Red Hill came back with a 26-21 halftime lead. Red Hill continued its momentum with a 19-10 third quarter.
The Eagles came back with a 27-15 final quarter run only to fall two points short.
Mammoser connected on seven field goals, including three three-pointers, and was 10 of 11 at the line for 29 points in reaching 1,000 career points. Stone chipped in with 14 points.
Red Hill advances to the consolation championship to face Olney, a 73-58 winner over Paris, Friday at 5 p.m. The third place contest, featuring Flora against Marshall will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday with the championship featuring Lawrenceville against Robinson at 7:30 p.m.
