STRASBURG -- Stewardson-Strasburg edged Effingham Sacred Heart 28-24 to advance to the championship game of its own Class 7-1A boys basketball regional Tuesday evening.

The two teams were tied at 4-4 after the opening quarter and 12-12 at halftime. Stew-Stras then had a 6-4 third quarter and a 10-8 final period to pull out the victory.

Wernsing scored 17 for the winners who improve to 6-16. Swingler led Sacred Heart with 11.

In the second game, Pana Sacred Heart won over Pocahontas 24-7.

Stew-Stras and Pana Sacred Heart will meet for the championship Thursday at 6 p.m.

Class 7-2A Nokomis Regional

Altamont will be vying for the championship of the Nokomis Regional after beating St. Elmo/Brownstown Tuesday evening.

Altamont led 18-9 at halftime then had a 16-7 second half run for a 34-16 final.

Eirhart tallied 13 and Cripe 11 for the winners. SEB was led by McWhorter with six.

In the opening game, Nokomis edged Findlay Okaw Valley 42-39.

Altamont will now meet Nokomis at 7 p.m. Thursday for the regional championship.

Class 7-3A Shelbyville Regional

Teutopolis will play for the regional championshp of the Shelbyville Regional after winning Tuesday evening.

The Shoes took a 22-4 opening quarter lead and went on to bounce Pana 49-20.

Deters tallied 14 points while Addis scored 10 for the winners.

In the second game, Shelbyville Moulton won over Arthur 37-17.

T-town will now meet Shelbyville Moulton at 6 p.m. Thursday for the regional title.

At Clay City

Newton St. Thomas picked up a 32-22 win over Cisne in the Clay City Sixth-Grade Tournament Tuesday.

Mason Schafer scored 16 for the winners.
