Effingham St. Anthony and Arcola advanced to the championship game of the Class 7-2A St. Anthony Boys Basketball Regional with victories Monday evening.

Arcola won the opener over Neoga 38-10. Arcola stepped out to a 14-0 first quarter lead and never looked back. Moore tallied 15 for the winners. Neoga was led by Eaton with four points.

In the second contest, St. Anthony downed Paris Crestwood 36-31. The Bullpups trailed 6-5 after the opening quarter but took an 11-10 halftime lead. Crestwood came back with a 12-10 third quarter to lead 22-21 going into the final quarter. The Bullpups rallied with a 15-9 final period.

Antrim led the way with 11 points.

St. Anthony will now meet Arcola at 6 p.m. Wednesday for the regional title. The winner advances to the St. Anthony Sectional February 3.

Class 7-4A Effingham Regional

The Effingham Mustangs saw their season come to an end with a 59-30 loss at the hands of top-seeded Urbana Monday evening.

Urbana took control early with a 23-6 first quarter lead. Sanders tallied 24 and Sayles 18 for the winners.

Effingham was led by Duncan with 11 and Wolfe 10. The Mustangs finish the season with a 13-5 record.

In the second contest, Charleston beat Champaign Edison 57-49.

Urbana will face Charleston at 6 p.m. Wednesday for the regional title.

Class 7-4A Effingham Regional

Class 7-1A Stewardson-Strasburg Regional

Stewardson-Strasburg claimed a 35-15 win over Mulberry Grove in its own regional Monday evening.

Stew-Stras stepped out to a 27-8 halftime lead and never looked back. Wernsing tallied 21 for the winners who improve to 5-16.

In the second contest, Pana downed Windsor 34-19. Pocahontas then defeated Sorento 32-18.

Tonight's games feature Effingham Sacred Heart against Stewardson-Strasburg at 6 p.m. followed by Pana Sacred Heart facing Pocahontas at 7:15.

Class 7-1A Stew-Stras Regional

Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael

Sigel St. Michael and Dieterich picked up opening round victories in the St. Michael Regional

St. Michael downed Hutsonville 44-22 in the opener.

In the second contest, Dieterich beat Martinsville 42-18.

St. Michael and Dieterich will now meet for the regional championship Thursday at 6 p.m.

 

Class 7-2A Nokomis Regional

St. Elmo/Brownstown picked up a victory in the Nokomis Regional.

St. Elmo/Brownstown edged Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 46-45 in the second game. In the opener, Findlay Okaw Valley downed  Ramsey 60-33.

Findlay Okaw Valley now faces Nokomis at 6 p.m. today while Altamont takes on St. Elmo/Brownstown at 7:15.

 

Class 7-3A Robinson Nuttall Regional

Marshall and Casey-Westfield advanced to the championship game of the Robinson Nuttall Regional with victories.

Marshall won over Red Hill (Bridgeport) 35-22. Casey-Westfield then beat Cumberland 39-28.

Marshall and Casey-Westfield meet at 6 p.m. Thursday for the title.
