ALTAMONT -- Effingham St. Anthony advanced to the championship game of the Altamont Freshman Boys Basketball Tournament with a 56-40 win over host Altamont Thursday.

St. Anthony took a 24-6 halftime lead. Ludwig tallied 15 for the winners while Brandenburger scored 11.

Altamont was led by Brown with 14.

In the second game, Teutopolis edged Dieterich 42-41. T-town held a 16-10 opening quarter lead. Dieterich came back in the third quarter to pull within 37-34 going into the final quarter then had a 14-12 run only to fall a point short.

Dawson Smith scored 27 while Clint Weber had 18 for the Shoes. Dieterich was led by Flach with 13 and McClain 13.

St. Anthony will now face Teutopols Wednesday, January 20 at 7:30 p.m. for the championship. Altamont will meet Dieterich for third place at 6 p.m.
