ALTAMONT -- Effingham St. Anthony claimed two victories over Altamont in junior high boys basketball competition Thursdsay.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade game 55-23. Walsh tallied 22 for the winners while Moore added eight.

Altamont was led by Cripe, Eirhart and Abendroth with five each.

In eighth-grade play, St. Anthony picked up a 53-34 victory. The score was knotted at 12-12 after one quarter before the Bullpups took a 28-17 halftime lead.

St. Anthony had another big scoring quarter in the final with a 13-5 run. Dust led the winners with 18 points while Elder added 14 and Tingley 13.

Altamont was led by Beccue with nine, Kollman with eight and Delaney with eight.

At Strasburg

Stewardson-Strasburg picked up two victories over Windsor Thursday.

Stew-Stras won the seventh-grade contest 32-17 with a 20-8 first half run. Wernsing scored 14 for the winners who improved to 4-16. Wheeler led Windsor with nine.

In eighth-grade action, Stew-Stras took a 41-27 win and improved to 7-10.

Kirby scored 17 and Jesgarz 11 for the winners. Domzalski tallied 11 for Windsor.

At Salem

Teutopolis claimed a 44-11 seventh-grade victory over Salem Franklin Park Thursday evening.

The Wooden Shoes had a 17-2 opening quarter. Ten players scored in the game led by D. Deters with nine points. Wermert chipped in with seven.

In the eighth-grade contest, Teutopolis picked up a 41-22 win. The Shoes, once again, stepped out to a big lead, going out at halftime, 29-9.

M. Hemmen scored 16 and L. Ungrund 10 for the Shoes.
