MTC, LIC Boys Basketball Tournament Pairings Released

Pairings have been released for the Midland Trail Conference Boys Basketball Tournament. Drawing the top seed was Woodlawn while No. 2 went to Cisne.

The first round games, Monday, January 18 and Tuesday, January 19 will be played at the higher seed's school. The rest of the games, Wednesday, January 20 through Saturday, January 23 will be played at North Clay (Louisville).

In the first games Monday, (9) North Clay is at (8) Odin at 7 p.m. while (10) Clay City is at (7) Grayville, also at 7 p.m.

Tuesday's games find top-seeded Woodlawn hosting the winner of the first game while Cisne will host the winner of the second game. Waltonville, seeded fifth, will travel to fourth-seeded Wayne City and third-seeded Webber Township (Bluford) plays host to sixth-seeded Sandoval.

The tournament continues Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The finals are scheduled for Friday with the consolation championship at 6:30 p.m. and the third place game at 8 p.m.  The title contest will be held Saturday at 7 p.m.

Little Illini Conference Tournament

The Little Illini Conference Boys Basketball Tournament will be held January 22-29. Lawrenceville was seeded No. 1 with Marshall taking the No. 2 seed.

The tournament opens play Friday, January 22 with eighth-seeded Newton playing ninth-seeded Casey-Westfield. Paris (7) will then take on 10th-seeded Red Hill (Bridgeport) at 7:30 p.m.

The tourney continues Saturday, January 23 with Lawrenceville meeting the winner of the first game at 3 p.m. while Marshall takes on the winner of the second game at 6 p.m. Olney (4) will meet Flora (5) at 4:30 p.m. Robinson (3) takes on Edwards County (Albion) (6) at 7:30.

The third place game is scheduled for Friday at 6:30 p.m. and the consolation championship at 5 p.m. The champship game is set for 8 p.m.
