Effingham captured a seventh-grade boys basketball win over Taylorville Monday evening, 55-25.
EJHS had a 32-16 halftime lead and never looked back. Wolfe tallied 18 while Duncan scored 12 for the winners. The Mustangs are now 11-4 on the season.
In eighth-grade play, Taylorville was a 48-32 winner. Taylorville took a 26-6 halftime lead. Effingham came back in the final quarter 17-6 but fell short.
Pemberton tallied six points for the Mustangs who drop to 4-11.

Altamont Lutheran downed Effingham Sacred Heart in both games.
Altamont Lutheran won the seventh-grade contest 33-31. Reardon tallied 11 for the winners while Stuemke and Robbins had eight each. The Shamrocks were led by Walker with 13.
In the eighth-grade contest, Altamont Lutheran won 47-25. Teasley scored 18 and Duckwitz 13 for the winners.
Sacred Heart was led by Niehart with six points.

Teutopolis and Charleston split victories. Charleston was a 50-44 winner in seventh-grade A play.
Charleston stepped out to an 18-8 opening quarter lead and never looked back. T-town was led by Addis and M. Deters with 12 points each.
In the seventh-grade B contest, the Shoes claimed a 40-36 victory. The Shoes took a 19-15 halftime lead then had a 17-8 third period run. Charleston came back with a 13-4 final quarter only to fall short.
T-town was led by Mersman with nine points.

Newton St. Thomas edged Sigel St. Michael 34-33 in eighth-grade competition.
St. Thomas leaped out to a 10-2 opening quarter lead and led 16-13 at halftime. St. Michael took the lead in the second half 23-20 but St. Thomas had a 14-10 final period to pull out the win.
Seth Weber tallied 17 and Jackson Barthelme 12 for the winners. St. Michael was led by C. Croy with 11. St. Thomas improves to 13-2.
No seventh-grade score was reported.

Flora won the seventh-grade contest 30-23. North Clay held a 13-8 halftime lead but Flora came back with a 23-10 second half.
North Clay was led by Ethan Bible with 18 points.
In the eighth-grade game, Flora claimed a 53-32 win. Flora took a 32-20 halftime lead.
North Clay was led by Colby Zimdars with 11.
