Neoga, WSS, Newton, North Clay Nab Girls Victories

NEOGA -- Neoga High School continued its outstanding girls basketball season with a 64-56 win over Pana Monday evening.
The Indians edged out to a 14-13 opening quarter lead. Pana came back with a 13-11 run to lead 26-25 at halftime. The Indians then had a 15-10 third quarter to lead 40-33 going into the final period and had a 24-20 run.
Jaycie Roy and EC Thies provided the one-two scoring punch for the Indians with 26 and 23 points respectively. Roy connected on four three-pointers. Thies had seven rebounds and five assists. Morrison had seven rebounds while Hotze had five steals.
Neoga improves its overall mark to 16-5 on the season and will be back in action Thursday hosting Effingham St. Anthony in National Trail Conference play.

At Strasburg
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg picked up a 43-35 victory over Dieterich in National Trail Conference play.
WSS and Dieterich were tied at 8-8 after the opening quarter and WSS edged out to a 24-22 halftime lead. WSS then put together a 19-12 second half run.
Megan Schlechte scored 15 while Grace Schuler and mackenzi Tabbert had 11 each for the Hatchets.
Dieterich was led by Kallee Heuerman with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Kaitlyn Bloemer and Kelsey Webb had three assits each. Webb had four steals.

Newton stepped out to a 20-10 opening quarter lead then held off Flora over the next three quarters to pull out a 45-40 victory.
Richards tallied 22 to lead the Eagles as the lone player in double figures. The EAgles improve to 13-7 on the season.
Flroa was led by Jones with 16 and Krutsinger with 11.
Newton is back in action Saturday in the Little Illini Conference Tournament taking on Paris at 7:30 p.m.

The Cardinals had a 24-14 halftime lead then had a 9-3 third quarter run. The Cardinals were led by Stanfield with 10 points and Fleener with nine.
CHBC was led by gates and Endsley with eight points each.

Vandalia overwhelmed South Central to the tune of 62-29 in a non-conference matchup Monday evening.
The Vandals edged out to a 13-10 opening quarter lead and led 28-17 at halftime. Vandalia then had a 35-12 second half run.
Francis had 15, Tinker 14 and Bright 13 for the winners.
South Central was led by Keely Smith with 13 and Abby Hahn with 12. the Cougars drop to 7-10 on the season.
