Finals Set For Dieterich Boys Holiday Tournament, WSS Wins at Tri-County

DIETERICH -- The finals are set for the Dieterich Boys Holiday Basketball Tournament after competition Monday.

In the opening game of the day, Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran defeated North Clay (Louisville) 52-48. Palm tallied 20 and Fleeman 17 for the winners. Repking led North Clay with 18 points while Holkenbrink added 12.

In the second game, Okaw Valley handed Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick a 63-58 loss. CORL trailed 28-26 at halftime but came back with a 37-30 second half run.

BCCH was led by Blackerby with 17, A. Rexroad with 15 and A. Nohren with 15.

In the third game, Arcola defeated Christ Our Rock Lutheran 73-37.

The fourth contest went to Newton fell to Okaw Valley 67-57. Okaw Valley held a one-point lead at the half before outscoring the Eagles 32-23 in the second half.

Newton was led by Mammoser with 14, Harris with 12 and Stone with 10.

Oblong then downed Arcola 60-54.

In the final game of the evening, Dieterich defeated Newton 52-49. The Movin' Maroons held a 28-27 halftime lead then had a 24-22 second half run.

Feldhake scored 19 while Campton had 10 for the winners. Newton was led by Mammsoer with 19 and Harris with 12.

Today's games feature Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick against North Clay at 1 p.m. for seventh place, Newton agianst CORL for fifth place at 2:30, Arcola taking on Okaw Valley at 4 p.m. for third place and the championship at 8 p.m. featuring Dieterich and Arcola.

Tri-County Tournament

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg claimed a victory in opening play of the Tri-County Boys Basketball Tournament Monday.

WSS was tied with host Tri-County at 10-10 after the opening quarter but ripped off a 19-5 count to lead at halftime. The two teams played almost even in the second half.

Warner led WSS with 29 points.

In other games, Westville won over Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond 52-28, Paris defeated Hutsonville/Palestine 67-26 and Chicago Christ the King beat Martinsville 70-35.
