Bulldogs Pick Up Win, Suffer Loss at Vandalia Tourney

VANDALIA -- Effingham St. Anthony picked up a victory but also suffered a loss in the Vandalia Boys Holiday Basketball Tournament Monday.
The Bulldogs fell to Patoka 62-53. Patoka held an 8-7 opening quarter lead but St. Anthony came back to take a 27-24 lead at the half. Patoka then rallied for a 20-11 third quarter run and never looked back.
Kyle Hartke tallied 20 for the Bulldogs.
St. Anthony then defeated Vandalia 64-41. The Bulldogs edged out to a 10-9 opening quarter lead then had a 41-21 run over the next two quarters.
Hartke tallied 14 while Nick Grunloh added 14.
In the opening game of the day, Greenville defeated St. Elmo/Brownstown 54-42. Greenville led 30-18 at halftime and was never outscored.
SEB was led by Feezel with 14 points.
Pana defeated South Central 63-35. Pana stepped out to a 26-11 opening quarter lead and had an 18-6 third period run. Four players hit double figures for the Panthers.
South Central was led by Harmeier with seven points.
Altamont then went overtime to beat Shelbyville 70-65. The Indians held a 33-27 halftime lead. Shelbyville came back with a 14-8 run and the two teams scored 17 points each in the final quarter sending the game into the overtime session.
In overtime, Altamont went 12-7 over Shelbyville for the victory. Armstrong tallied 20 for the winners while Cornett added 16 and K. Wolff 13.
In the final game of the day, Greenville downed South Central 57-40. Greenville held a 28-13 halftime lead.
South Central's Harmeier tallied 11.
Today's games feature St. Elmo/Brownstown against South Central at 11, Shelbyville facing Patoka at 12:30, Pana against St. Elmo/Brownstown at 3:30, Patoka vs. Vandalia at 5, Altamont meeting St. Anthony at 6:30 and Flora against Greenville at 8.
