Dieterich Wins Twice At Own Boys Tourney

DIETERICH -- The Dieterich Boys Holiday Basketball Tournament opened play Saturday.

In the first game of the day, Dieterich trounced Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 71-19. The Movin' Maroons held a 40-8 halftime lead and never looked back. They connected on 13 three-pointers in the contest led by Feldhake with five.

Feldhake scored 18 for the winners while Poe and T. Niemerg tallied 11 points each.

BCCH was led by Rexroad with six points.

In the second contest, Arcola defeated North Clay (Lousiville) 67-48. The Purple Riders pulled out to a 38-14 halftime lead. North Clay had a 34-29 second half run but couldn't make up that first half deficit.

Warren led North Clay withy nine points.

In the third contest, Newton claimed a 67-23 victory over Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick. The Eagles took a 23-8 first quarter lead then held BCCH scoreless in the second quarter for a 38-8 halftime tally.

Cohorst led Newton with 13 while Mammoser and Stone tallied 12 points each.

BCCH was led by Rexroad with six points.

North Clay then fell to Oblong 46-33. Oblong led 16-8 after one quarter but North Clay came back to pull within 24-21 at halftime. Oblong then had a 15-8 third quarter.

Lovett led the Cardinals with eight points.

In the final game of the day, Dieterich downed Okaw Valley easily by a 62-34 count. The Maroons held a 30-19 halftime lead then had a 20-10 third quarter run.

The Maroons were led by Radloff with 16, Feldhake with 14 and L. Niemerg with 13. The Maroons connected on seven three-pointers.

Pool play ends today and finals are scheduled for Tuesday.
