Tri-County Claims ALAH Classic Holiday Girls Tournament

Tri-County High School claimed the championship of the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights Classic Girls Holiday Basketball Tournament Wednesday evening.

Tri-County defeated Decatur St. Teresa in a low-scoring contest, 29-22.

In the third place game, ALAH handed Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor a 64-57 loss. ALAH stepped out to a 20-17 first quarter lead and advanced that to 43-29 at halftime.

SSW came back to outscore ALAH 28-21 in the second half but fell short. Megan Schlechte tallied 20 for the Hatchets while Grace Schuler chipped in with 15 and Mackenzi Tabbert added 12. Schlechte was named to the All-Tournament team.

In the fifth place contest, Chrisman tallied a 41-25 win over Oakwood.

The seventh-place game went to Shelbyville. The Rams edged Cumberland, 42-41.

Shelbyville took a 26-18 halftime lead and led 39-29 going into the final quarter. The Pirates rallied with a 12-3 final period charge only to fall a point short.

Adra Baker tallied 14 points to lead the Pirates who drop to 1-15 on the season.
