Effingham split freshman/sophomore boys basketball victories against Mount Zion Monday evening.
The Hearts won the freshman game 52-35. Zack Lee and Hunter Rich tallied 10 points each for the Hearts while Dylan Bushur had nine. EHS jumped out to a 28-15 halftime lead.
In the sophomore game, Mount Zion edged out to a 12-11 opening quarter lead and led 28-25 at halftime. The Braves then had a 29-19 second half run.
Effingham had three players in double digits. Ryan Sandifer led with 16 while Noah Spencer added 11 and Jason Devore 10.

At Vandalia
Effingham St. Anthony claimed a freshman/sophomore victory over Vandalia 45-36.
The Bulldogs held a 26-16 halftime lead. Vandalia came back with a 20-19 second half run but fell short.
Ben Mendella tallied 12 for the winners while Bryson Wall and Luke Ludwig had nine each.
