Effingham St. Anthony captured a seventh-grade B victory over Stewardson-Strasburg in boys basketball competition Monday evening.
The Bullpups edged out to a 2-0 first quarter lead. Stew-Stras took a 10-6 lead into the half. But the Bullpups rallied for a 20-7 third quarter run and never looked back.
Schuette and Nuxoll scored 12 points each for the winners. Stew-Stras (3-11) was led by Wernsing with 15.
In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony was a 39-24 winner. The Bullpups leaped out to a 22-13 halftime lead then had a 13-7 final quarter run.
Fitzgerald led three players in double figures with 14. Heuerman and Rios added 10 each. Kirby led Stew-Stras (3-8) with 17.

Effingham Sacred Heart and Newton St. Thomas split victories Monday evening.
The Shamrocks won the seventh-grade game 34-28. Top scorers for Sacred Heart were Swingler and Wallace with six each. Schafer had 12 for St. Thomas.
In eighth-grade action, St. Thomas won 45-12. St. Thomas had a huge 35-4 halftime lead. Weber scored 13 for the winners.

Teutopolis traveled to Casey-Westfield and trounced the homestanders in both games.
The Shoes won the seventh-grade contest 49-16. T-town's M. Deters scored 16.
In eighth-grade action, Teutopolis stepped out to a 23-5 halftime lead then held the homestanders scoreless in the second half for a 36-5 victory.
T-town's M. Hardiek tallied nine points while M. Hemmen scored eight for the Shoes.

Jasper County picked up two wins over visiting Martinsville Monday evening.
Jasper County won the seventh-grade game 33-32, holding off a second half rally by Martinsville after leading 18-15 at halftime.
Westin Tharp scored nine points and Evan Schafer eight for the winners.
In eighth-grade play, Jasper County claimed a 54-33 win over Martinsville. Jasper County stepped out to a 27-14 halftime lead and scored the exact same 27 points in the second half.
Jarrett Tharp tallied 17 for the winners.
