St. Michael, BSE, T-town Headed To Girls Eighth-Grade State Basketball Tourneys

Sigel St. Michael, Brownstown/St. Elmo and Teutopolis are headed to eighth-grade girls state basketball tournaments after winning sectionals Wednesday evening.
Class 8-1A St. Michael Sectional
Sigel St. Michael is on its way to the Class 8-1A State Tournament at Clinton Junior High School Saturday.
The Sharpshooters pounded Mount Olive to win their own sectional, 31-8. St. Michael improves to a 16-6 on the season.
St. Michael will now face Lexington (19-1) at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Class 8-2A Effingham St. Anthony Sectional
Brownstown/St. Elmo handed host St. Anthony a 33-26 loss to win the sectional championship.
BSE improves to a perfect 24-0 and will now take on Bismarck-Henning (20-4) at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Class 8-2A State Tournament at Lewistown Central High School.
Class 8-3A Cumberland Sectional
Teutopolis improved to 24-0 and is headed to the Class 8-3A State Tournament after beating Jasper County, 25-16.
T-town stepped out to a 12-4 opening quarter lead. From that point on, the two teams played pretty even. Olivia Niemerg led the Shoes with 10 points.
Jasper County was led by Abby Stone with six.
T-town will face Peotone (20-1) at 2:30 p.m. Satudray at Germantown Hills Middle School in the Class 8-3A State Tournament.
