SIGEL -- St. Elmo/Brownstown and Stewardson-Strasburg picked up victories to advance to the consolation championship of the Seventh-Grade Boys National Trail Conference Basketball Tournament Monday evening.
SEB defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 34-17. SEB took a 22-5 halftime lead.
Rosborough tallied 12 points for the winners. Robertson led CHBC with 17.
In the second contest, Stewardson-Strasburg defeated Effingham Sacred Heart 25-13. Stew-Stras took a 16-6 opening half lead and had a 9-2 third quarter run.
Vonderheide tallied eight and Wernsing seven for the winners who improve to 3-9. Sacred Heart was led by Swingler and Wallace with four each.
Stew-Stras will face BSE at 5:30 p.m. Thursday for the consy championship. Tonight's games feature Sigel St. Michael against Neoga at 6:15 followed by Altamont taking on Dieterich at 7:30 in winner bracket play.

At Effingham
Effingham St. Anthony downed Flora in both games. The Bullpups won the seventh-grade contest 40-23. St. Anthony took a 23-11 halftime lead.
Walsh scored 12 and Lawrence eight for the winners.
In eighth-grade play, St. Anthony trailed 12-10 at halftime then had a 14-5 third quarter run to pull out a 31-24 win over Flora. Hoene scored nine and Tingley eight for the Bullpups.

At Centralia
Effingham traveled to Centralia and suffered two losses Monday evening.
In the seventh-grade contest, Centralia claimed a 50-38 victory. Wolfe tallied nine for the Mustangs.
In the eighth-grade contest, Centralia was a 56-30 winner. Effingham had four players with six points, Snow, Cramsey, Kalber and Siner. The Mustangs drop to 3-8.

North Clay (Louisville) claimed victories over Olney St. Joe. North Clay won the seventh-grade contest 32-19.
St. Joe took a 5-0 first quarter lead but North Clay led 9-7 at halftime then had a 23-11 second half score. Bible and Griffy tallied eight points each for the winners.
In the eighth-grade contest, North Clay downed St. Joe 66-44. North Clay held a 34-21 first half lead then had a 21-6 third quarter run.
Tyson Jones tallied 23 and Colby Zimdars 20 for the winners.
